“CAE delivered some training for Homes England recently – I highly recommend it,” said Susan Mackie, North West Affordable Housing Team- Contract Manager at Homes England.
Homes England is the Government’s housing accelerator. The organisation does this by increasing the number of new homes that are built in England, including affordable homes and homes for market, sale or rent.
CAE delivered a mix of half day to two day training and delegates included teams from care and supported housing, planners, land, architects and wider staff. We are supporting the Homes England strategic plan to put equality and diversity at the heart of their work and in meeting the housing needs of diverse communities.
The Affordable Housing Team within Homes England is responsible for managing the programmes, that in turn provide funding streams, which support delivery of housing by Registered Providers.
One of the programmes that Homes England deliver on behalf of the Department of Health is called the Care and Support Specialist Housing (CASSH).
Their new strategic plan details that funding is being provided to develop new affordable homes, included within that due to the above programme delivery is housing that meets the needs of older people and disabled adults.
In 2018/19 CAE worked with Homes England to provide training across their 5 regional offices to raise awareness of equality and inclusive housing for their staff.
Christine Hill, Senior Specialist Affordable Housing Delivery, said of the training: “Getting to grips with nationally described space standards, furniture layouts and wheelchair accessibility layouts with CAE was worthwhile. I can put my new skills to use!”
