As part of its Access London project, the Centre for Accessible Environments is now inviting applications for FREE inclusive design training from anyone involved in influencing the design and accessibility of public spaces in London.
Who can apply?
If you are part of a Local Authority’s highways teams, planners for large scale developments or wider town centre redevelopment schemes, disability support services, local access groups or disability user groups, this virtual training is for you.
CAE believes that all public spaces should be inclusive and that access should not be compromised as we emerge from lockdown in a post Covid-19 society. The training, which is funded by the City Bridge Trust, will support London’s policy makers to champion inclusive design of their neighbourhoods.
What will the training cover?
Trainees will learn about:
- Access awareness and the impact of the environment for different users
- Impact of Covid-19 and low traffic neighbourhoods
- Design guidance for external environments
- Wayfinding and access routes
- Visual contrast and lighting
- Parking
- Public Facilities
- Tactile Paving.
