Design and Neurodiversity – Online

Aim

This live online course explores the principles of designing for neurodiversity and wellbeing. Neurodiversity is a term to cover the diversity of human minds and cognitive function and can include dyslexia, dyspraxia, Autism spectrum condition and ADHD. We will investigate the relationship between neurodiversity and the built environment, how design affects and can respond to these issues and how this relates to legislation including the Equality Act 2010.

Course outline

This course will cover:

  • What is neurodiversity?
  • Neurodiversity and the built environment
  • Designing for wellbeing
  • Neurodiversity audit exercise
  • Discussion and questions.

This training course is aimed at anyone considering a career in access or interested in inclusive design, designers improving their knowledge and those looking towards possible future NRAC accreditation.

This course will be delivered online via Zoom, from 10:30am til 4pm.

About the trainer

Trainer Vin Goodwin

Vin Goodwin is an NRAC-accredited access consultant with over 25 years’ experience in inclusive design and a BSc in Architecture. He has worked on projects ranging from community initiatives to major developments such as Historic Royal Palaces, Somerset House, and the London Olympic Park. Vin delivers CAE courses on topics including Design & NeurodiversityWheelchair Accessible Housing, Access Auditing and Equality Act course and our award-winning Pathways Academy course.
