Course outline

In this interactive workshop we will explore:

  • Evolution of relevant history, current standards, and key policies.
  • Roles of planning and building control authorities in shaping accessible homes.
  • Insights into designs for category M4(1) and M4(2) dwellings.
  • Technical requirements of category M4(3), including the distinction between wheelchair adaptable and wheelchair accessible homes
  • Essential technical specifications that shape accessible homes, including entrances, kitchens, living spaces, bedrooms and bathrooms

Through group exercises and discussion, participants will share ideas, ask questions, and build confidence and understanding of accessible housing requirements.

Vin Goodwin is an NRAC-accredited access consultant with over 25 years’ experience in inclusive design and a BSc in Architecture.
